Make sure that the Q-tip is just damp or not dripping. Gently dab around the eye by being super careful to make sure that soap gets into the eye itself.
You can also lightly press the scales around the eye to help get the mites out. You might need to do this for a few days. It is always best to talk to a reptile vet first for the extra. Remember you should use very little soap to keep it out of the eye, be gentle and consult a vet if it does not get better.
